Disciplined-Based Art Educator (DBAE) – A style of teaching the Fine Art Department
at Stuart believed in and developed in its faculty. DBAE is a nationally known philosophy
of teaching art within the curriculum funded by the Getty Foundation. Its basic principle
is to teach toward the whole individual through four crucial components – Art Production
(Making Art), Art History (Context for which art has been created), Art Criticism (Evaluating, Defining, Developing Formal Aspects of Art) and Aesthetics (Notions of Beauty/Conceptions
for the nature of art).
