The word “sissiboo” is a French adaption of the Mi’kamaq word for “6 owls”. It is the name of the river in Weymouth, Nova Scotia where the Maine College of Art & Design offers a team residency to its alum through an application process.

Vaughan is an alum and was able to design this residency with five artists across her art life whom she felt would work well together, creating art based on the history, literature and culture of the region.
